With immense sadness, we announce the passing of William Richard Prince: a dependable friend, a loving father, and a man of resilience and wit. Born in Queens, New York, on June 5, 1959, William spent a significant part of his life in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he touched the lives of many. William passed away on April 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and strength.
William graduated high school from Westbury High School in New York class of 1977. William's work ethic was unrivaled; he was a glass cutter by trade, spending most of his career at Daniel's Insulation until his retirement in 2020. His commitment to excellence shone through in everything he did, and he was well-known for going above and beyond in his work. It wasn't just his trade where William's dedication shone; he brought the same tenacity to his faith. He served as an altar boy in his youth, and his Catholic faith remained a cornerstone throughout his life. In the words of Corinthians 16:14, "Let all that you do be done in love." This verse encapsulated William's approach to life - his work, his relationships, and his faith.
William was a beacon of reliability, intellect, and humor. He was a fighter, a trait that manifested itself in many aspects of his life. Despite being separated from his wife, he found companionship in his significant other, Barbara Wolfe, who stood by him throughout. William is remembered by his family members brother James Prince (Maria) and his daughter Sara Prince, his sisters Reverend Donna Prince (Judith) Carol Prince-Hunter(Charles), Linda Prince, and Vanda Stewart and his significant other Barbara Wolfe. He was a uncle and a great uncle he had several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marion Prince.
