Wanda Lou King left this earth on June 1, 2023. Dad threw a party in Heaven. There were fireworks and tears that morning.
She was born in Columbia, MO on June 30, 1940 and adopted by Hickman and Alda Holloway in Fulton, MO. She married Raymond Batye in 1958. The couple had a daughter Rae Ann. They later divorced. Wanda married Asa Lee King on June 30, 1962. They added another daughter, Jorene, and son Asa "Butch" to their family. In 2002 they adopted their granddaughter, Natalie.
Wanda loved her family, fishing, the Iowa State Fair, cooking for family gatherings, the Ozarks, and reading drug store romance novels. She also loved to knit. You could often hear her needles clicking together on family road trips. Wanda retired from Principal in 2002 to potty train Natalie. She was loved by her co-workers and referred to as the "work mom." She would make Irish stew on St Patrick's Day for the whole department.
