True Anne VanMeter, 57, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026. She battled Ovarian Cancer

Born on November 21, 1968, in Galveston, Texas, True was the beloved daughter of Mary Ann Clinton and the late John David VanMeter.

True dedicated her life to caring for others. As a mother and caregiver at Nuerorestorative , she worked with individuals living with brain injuries and took tremendous pride in becoming a Certified Brain Injury Specialist. Her compassion, patience, and unwavering commitment touched the lives of countless people and their families.

Outside of work, True was the heart of an artist. She loved painting and drawing, gardening, and watching her grandbabies grow, by finding peace and joy in creating beautiful things She also enjoyed sightseeing and taking in the beauty of the world around her. Whether she was admiring a sunset, growing new flowers, or spending time with those she loved, she embraced life’s simple moments.

She leaves behind her Mother Mary Anne Clinton, sisters Tracie VanMeter, Crystal Teafatiller, Lori VanMeter and her brother John David VanMeter Jr her daughters, Cairah VanGarza and spouse, Faithe VanGarza; Celia VanMeter; and Lilliana Pizana-Bennett and spouse, Travis Bennett. She was a proud grandmother to Haiden James Borden and Siah James Pizaña and eagerly awaited the arrival of her grandson, Micah True Pizana-Bennett who will forever carry a piece of her name and legacy.

We will be hosting a celebration of life to remember True at Daniel’s park, 940 Oakland Rd NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402 on Monday July 6th from 12pm-6pm
