Shan Marie Crawford was a true East Sider, born in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a fierce firecracker, a wild spirit, and a woman who lived life on her own terms. She did things her way, followed her own path, and lived each day exactly how she wanted. Shan had a heart bigger than words could ever explain. When she loved, she loved HARD. Whether it was her family, her friends, or any animal that crossed her path, if you were hers, you were loved fiercely. She had a special place in her heart for all animals, a love for flowers and plants, and there was hardly a room without at least one plant in it. She loved making dream catchers and collecting all things little, finding joy in the things that made her happy. She was one of a kind, a little wild, full of fire, and completely unapologetic about who she was.

To her daughter, Linsay, she was simply Mama. The woman whose love will forever be a part of her. Shan called Linsay her “sunshine,” and now, in a world that feels a little darker without her, that name means more than words could ever explain. Linsay will forever be her sunshine, carrying a piece of her mama everywhere she goes.

Shan leaves behind her daughter, Linsay, and son-in-law, Charles; her beloved grandsons, Alex, Mavrik, Malik, Quinton, and Taziyin; her granddaughters, Emma and Kate; her mother, Trudy Welch, and stepfather, Ron Welch; her brothers, Jeff and Chris Mason; and her two little dogs, Peanut Butter and Jelly. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Mason, and her nephews, Troy and Joshua.

Shan's presence, her spirit, her love, and the mark she left on the people who knew her will never be forgotten. She lived life her way, loved with her whole heart, and left this world being exactly who she was. She was unapologetically herself, and there will never be another quite like her.
