Sean Hegarty, born on August 24, 1969, in Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on April 18, 2026, in Sioux City, Iowa. With deep respect and heartfelt sorrow, we remember Sean as a dedicated individual whose presence enriched the lives of those around him.

Sean devoted many years to his career, working at Asphlund / Wright Tree Service, Air Liquide, and Tyson in Storm Lake.

Beyond his professional life, Sean found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests that painted a vibrant picture of his personality. An avid movie enthusiast, Sean loved to watch and collect films across many genres, finding in them stories that entertained. His passion for reading led him to explore the realms of science fiction and history, where he immersed himself in captivating narratives. Sean’s love for fishing took him to wherever the waters called. The Fourth of July held a special place in his heart; it was his favorite holiday, marked by his own spirited celebrations, often putting on his personal show to honor the day. Known also for his adventurous palate, Sean enjoyed trying different restaurants, always eager to discover new flavors. A loyal fan, he cherished the Pittsburgh Steelers, following their football games with enthusiasm.

He is lovingly survived by his sisters, Kerry Hegarty (Mike) Cushing and Molly Hegarty (Mark) Petersen, and his niece Kayla Cushing. He also leaves behind beloved aunts and uncles: Jeri Kayl, Ron and Carol Hegarty, Pat Abdo, Dan and Cris Hegarty, Terry and Paula Hegarty, Randy and Pat Hegarty, Tom and Carol Sue Hegarty, Bary and Maryann Betsworth, Carolyn Kowalke, Jeff and Joni Betsworth, along with many cousins.

Sean was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Bob) and Dixie (Betsworth) Hegarty; his nephew Cedric Hueschen; his grandparents George and Lorene Hegarty and Wayne and Sylvia Betsworth; aunts and uncles Marion and Judy Hobbs, Jim Abdo, and Gary Kayl; as well as cousins Brian Hobbs, Lori (Hobbs) Buckley, Darrell Kayl, and Sarah Dvergsten.

In remembering Sean Hegarty, we will honor him in a Celebration of life on Friday July 3rd, 2026 at the Elks Lodge located at 1001 Tri-View Avenue Sioux City, IA 51103 from 11AM to 3PM. Would love to see as many people that come as possible.
