Ruth Lillie, 87, passed away peacefully, June 15, 2024, at Parkview Home in Wayland. Ruth Evelyn (Allen) Lillie was born September 24,1936 in Iowa City, the daughter of Wayne and Eva Allen. She married Obert Wallace Lillie in January of 1956 and later divorced. Ruth enjoyed being a homemaker and worked various jobs while raising her six children. She retired from the University of Iowa to start childcare. Ruth enjoyed her childcare family for 20 years. Ruth enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes play football and boys and girls basketball. She cheered them on even from her living room. She was a gifted seamstress and excellent cook. She was a devoted Christian and active member of the Faith Baptist Church in Washington. She enjoyed gardening and playing the piano in her spare time. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Evie Richardson, Kathy Farrier (Andy) and Diane Lillie, and her sons, Lloyd and Roger Lillie. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and her brother, Ron Allen and sister, Melva Chadick. She was preceded in death by her son, Craig Lillie, her granddaughter, Amy Richardson, and two sisters Virginia Akers and Sharon Lebert. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
