Obituary

Ronald Glandon 1943-2020 Ronald Lyle Glandon, 76, of Sigourney, passed away at his home, surrounded by family on Sunday, January 26, 2020. Ron was born April 27, 1943 in Sigourney, IA to Lyle and Irene (VanOrsdall) Glandon. He attended school in Sigourney, until he was needed on the family farm. On July 28, 1963, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Bensmiller. Through this unity, 12 children were born. Over the years, Ron was employed by: his family's farm, Dairyland, Fowler's Grocery Store, Roger Aller Construction, Kingsbury Homes, All American Pest Control, Louis Rich, Sigourney Christian Church, First Resources, Williamsburg Man., and numerous handyman jobs. Some of these jobs were held at the same time to make sure his family never went without. His retirement was spent mowing, being a jack of all trades, being the family's resident handyman/rodent catcher, gardening, woodworking, and giving his grandchildren (pain in the butts) a hard time. Ron enjoyed Western movies, reality TV, country music, working in his shop, telling old stories, gardening, and socializing. He never knew a stranger, and an unkind word was never spoken about Ron. There is nothing he wouldn't do for his family and will always be remembered as a dedicated father and husband. Left to remember his corny jokes and endless camaraderie are his wife Marilyn; children: Doug, Randy, Mark, Kristi, Boyd, Jacque, Dustin, Ryan, Karol, Justin, and Dru; brother and sisters: Patsy, Francis, Sally, and Tim, sister-in-law Pam, and brother-in-law Frank. Also left to remember this great man are his 27 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, his faithful dog, Toby, and many other family and friends. A beautiful family reunion is being celebrated in heaven with Ron's infant daughter, Angela, his brother Bill, his parents, his niece Shari, and his sister-in-law Carolyn. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the Sigourney Christian Church with a lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to 315 S. Main Street in Sigourney.
