ROBERTA JUNE BAUMAN BATES DAVENPORT--Roberta June Bauman Bates Bobbie, 88, of Davenport, passed away May 10, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City surrounded by her family. Bobbie was born June 6, 1928 to Edith Maria Carter Bauman & William F Bauman in Nebraska. She graduated from the University Nebraska - Lincolnwith a Bachelor of Arts degree. She married Tim H. Bates JR& was mother to 5 children. She was a passionate Master Gardener & Master Flower Show Judge & renowned Iris Society Judge. Active in various flower societies,as well as local, state & national garden clubs. Past president Muscatine Gardner Club 1990 1991. She volunteered her talents in too many gardens to list. Though gardening kept her feet grounded she was also a private fixed wing pilot and certified scuba diver. Preceded in death by her husband Tim H. Bates Jr. & son Tim H. Bates 3rd. Survived by Constance Louis & husband Gary Perrin, William Bruce Bates& wife Elizabeth Rawsthorne, Robert James (Bob)Bates, Edith Victoria ( Tori) & husband Michael Twigg , 5 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren as well as Anne C. Johnson lifelong friend & confidant. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorials in care of Roberta Bates @ First Midwest Bank Bettendorf, Iowa in lieu of flowers would be appreciated. Proceeds will be used to support her life's passion - Horticulture.
