Nita Jo Shaw of Clinton, Iowa lost her battle with cancer on Friday, September 26, 2025.
Nita was born on March 12, 1961, in Clinton, Iowa to Ralph and June Orsi. At the age of twelve she dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She graduated with honors from Clinton High School in 1979. At age nineteen, she was motivated to volunteer full-time in Bible education work in her
community. She was a devoted Bible reader and maintained her convictions regarding a promised cleansed earth free of conflict, illness, and death. She had a firm belief in the resurrection that will happen on earth, in the near future. In 1985, she married. She was
part owner and ran several businesses in the Sterling Rock-Falls area. After being single for three years, she married Gregg L. Shaw of Davenport, Iowa, on August 22, 2009. They lived in Sterling, Illinois. Later, they expanded their ministry by teaching the Bible to those who speak Vietnamese in Alton, IL, Saint Charles and Saint Louis, MO.
She enjoyed English public ministry at the Saint Louis Arch. In June 2024, she and Gregg moved back to Clinton, Iowa. She will be remembered for her big heart and sunny disposition. She loved Gregg's grandchildren and viewed them as her own. She will be deeply missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Gregg of Clinton; her brother, David Orsi; her sister and brother in-law, Donna and Kurt Winter all of Clinton; her stepchildren, Nicole Shaw of West Des Moines; Danielle (Joseph) Bean of West Des Moines; Brett (Jennifer) and their children Evie, Isaac, and Abram Shaw of Bettendorf; Brant and his son Jasper Shaw of Clinton. She considered the Henderson's of Sterling, IL her family; her special friend Jessica, husband Dane, their children Jaren, Levi, "bestie" Zara, and Jasmine.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1100 11th Avenue North, Clinton, IA on Saturday, October 18th at 2:00 p.m. Doors will be open at 1:00 p.m. An attendant will be at the Kingdom Hall at 10:00 a.m. to receive flowers.
