Max Marshall of Ankeny, Iowa passed away peacefully the morning of June 9, 2026.
Max was born March 5, 1938 on a farm in Decatur county. He was the youngest of 3 children. Upon graduation from Weldon high school he entered the United States Army. Following the Army, he met and married his wife, Jan. They moved to Ankeny in 1961. He then started his career making tractor tires at Armstrong Tire Company in Des Moines, retiring in 1994. Max and Jan had 2 children, Dennis and Michelle, and lived in Ankeny all their lives. He had a love for the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter and bird hunter who always had time to spend with his bird dogs and friends wherever his hunting would take him over the state. Max not only spent his weekends hunting, but also camping with family and friends. Max was a devoted family man who treasured his grandchildren. Max and Jan would travel to see their grandchildren and always supported their activities. He was a happy man who always had a smile and was ready for a conversation. Max never met a stranger and some say he would talk to a fence post. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed. Max was preceded in death by his wife, Jan. Max and Jan are at rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
