Marie Lipham Smith passed Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at home with family at her side. She lived a fascinating and full life. She will be remembered for her inquisitive intellect, her creativity, resilience, and generosity. She will also be remembered for her biscuits and pie, her love of birds, dogs and books, her competitive streak in playing Yahtzee and gin rummy, a late but fierce fandom for the New York Yankees, her hugs and her laughter. She is missed beyond measure. Her family is grateful for the kind care and services provided by Dr. Margo Schilling, Iowa City Hospice, and SEATS. There will be no services per Marie’s wishes.
