Marcus Johnson Sr. was born on December 16, 1944, in Manhattan, Kansas, to the late Margie and Cecil Johnson.
On May 24, 2026, he peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and love.
Marcus attended college in Pittsburg, Kansas, where he studied upholstery, developing the skills that would shape the beginning of his professional career. After completing his studies, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked as an upholsterer for ten years. His dedication and strong work ethic eventually led him to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he was employed by Square D for more than 30 years before retiring.
On September 6, 1973, Marcus married the love of his life, Raemona Hendred Johnson.
Together, they built a loving home and raised seven children, creating a strong family foundation rooted in love, faith, and family values. Their family grew to include 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought Marcus tremendous pride and joy.
Marcus enjoyed golfing, watching television, reading, listening to music, singing, and traveling with his wife and family. He cherished time spent with loved ones and created countless memories that will be treasured for generations.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and Cecil Johnson; his sisters, Lanetta Hill and Arnetta Johnson; and his brothers, Leo Johnson and Cecil Johnson.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Raemona Hendred Johnson; his seven children; 28 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Marcus's life was a testament to dedication, perseverance, and unconditional love for his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered always.
