Obituary

Lori LuAnne Kucera, age 70, of Central City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026.

Lori lived a life centered on compassion, faith, and service to others. She dedicated many years of her career to caring for people as a nurse at the Abbe Center’s inpatient mental health facility. Her kindness and understanding touched countless lives, both professionally and personally.

Lori was known for her generous heart and welcoming spirit. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a loving nature that made people feel at ease in her presence.

Outside of work, Lori loved spending time with her family and many friends whom she met along the way. She also found joy in fishing, gardening, and spending time with the many cats, dogs and squirrels she cared for throughout her life. She treasured the simple pleasures of nature and the companionship of her family, friends and animals.

Above all, Lori loved Jesus and lived her faith through her actions, showing love, grace, and compassion to everyone she met.

Lori is survived by her son Michael Kucera (Megan); and three grand children; brother Brad Strong Sr.(Christine); sister, Lizabeth Strong(Bear); nieces Ashley Abodeely(Edward); Alyssa Weisbarth(Justin); Nephews; Bradley Jr. and James; long time friend Jimmy Vanis and her loyal dog Abbey, as well as many, many friends, and loved ones whose lives were blessed by knowing her. Lori is proceeded in death by her ex husband, John Kucera; Father, Stephen Dean Keith; Mother, Phyllis Strong and Stepfather Warren Strong. 

Lori’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her beautiful smile, kindness, laughter, generosity, and unwavering faith.

No funeral services will be held. Instead, there will be a celebration of Lori’s life at Foxy’s Bar on Sunday, July 12th at 2pm in Central City, Iowa.
