Obituary

Lincoln C. Soule died on July 2, 2023. He was born in Washington D.C. to Captain Robert M. and DorothyA. Soule on December 5, 1945. He was married to his best friend and the love of his life, Sherry D. Soule, on the 15 th of March 1986. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and the attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Linc spent most of his working years in the insurance and financial services industry starting in 1974 and retiring in Iowa in 2022. Prior to that, he worked for a microwave development company and liked to say that his fingerprints had been to the moon, since he worked on the radar system that allowed the Lunar Excursion Module to rendezvous with the Eagle that brought the astronauts home. Linc and his bride enjoyed birding and traveled to many places in search of unusual birds. They also enjoyed cruising and went on several cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska to look for birds with friends from Florida. He was a very active Mason, serving as master of several lodges three times. He obtained the 33rd degree in the Scottish Rite and was a clown for the Shrine. Laughter was a joy in his life, and he often said that if he didn't make someone laugh every day, the day was wasted. He also said that while he aged some in New England, he might grow up in Iowa - "But don't count on it!" He would like to tell those involved with his health care how grateful he was for the care and compassion he and his family received from the doctors, nurses and medical staff of McFarland Clinic and Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa and Swedish Hospital in Englewood, Colorado. He is survived by wife Sherry Soule, daughter Kelly Murphy, son-in-law Colin Murphy, granddaughter Abigail Stokes, grandson-in-law Nigel Stokes, grandson Finnegan Murphy, grandson Gavin Murphy, step-grandson Ronan Murphy, other family members and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge in Ames (107 Alexander Ave). There will also be a memorial service on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Downtown Masonic Lodge in Denver, Colorado (1614 Welton St., Denver).
