In retirement, he enjoyed driving and taking care of his Corvette, and was always up for washing and waxing everyone else's vehicles.

He is survived by his daughter, Megan Black of Las Vegas; his brothers, Mike (Bev) Black of Washington, Iowa, Bill (Sherry) Black of Washington, Iowa, Steve (Denise) Black of Webster, Iowa, Gary (Jackie) Black of Ankeny, Iowa, Tom (Deb) Black of Washington, Iowa and Brad (Bonnie) Black of Sigourney, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-parents, and brothers: Denny Black and Doug Black.

In keeping with Larry's wishes, there will be no formal services. Those who knew him are encouraged to raise a cold one in his memory.
