Kenton Mark "Kent" Woodard of Des Moines, passed into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ in Iowa City on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Kent was surrounded by his loving family in his final days, hours, and moments, and he is survived by the love of his life Diana, brother Keith (Donna), children James (Regina), Vanessa Lopez, Maggie Robinson, and Aaron (Andrea), step-children James (Patricia) McCaffrey, Eric (Janel) Cram, Melanie (Patrick) Webb, and Michael (Nicole) Thompson , and fourteen grandchildren-Samantha, Chandler, Hayden, Michael, Myles, Titus, Layla, Zoey, Bo, Lucy, Quin, Christian, Jackie, and Stacy. Kent was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Jeanne Woodard, his sister, Paula, and his son Daniel. Kent was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on January 27, 1951, and grew up in Woodbine. As a child, he developed a life-long love of sports and a blue collar work ethic. Veteran of the United States Air Force, Kent later became a CNC manufacturer and welder. He was also passionate about cars, tools, and helping others with his talents. Kent spent much of his free time cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and any team his grandchildren played on. Most important to him was his love of Jesus and commitment to his church family. A dedicated member of Federated Church of Bondurant, Kent participated in small group and Sunday school classes, would regularly serve in ways seen and unseen in his church community, and traveled on international missions trips to Haiti. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 , at 11:00 am at Federated Church, 103 2nd St SW, Bondurant, IA 50035, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 am and reception to follow.
