Kenneth "Craig" Dieterich, age 76 of Brooklyn, IA died peacefully on June 30, 2021. Born August 18, 1944 in Grinnell, IA to Kenneth L. Dieterich and Alice "Maxine" Ruble, he grew up south of Brooklyn where he attended country school and graduated from BGM High School in 1964. He then attended Bailey Technical School in St. Louis, MO, graduating in 1965 with a mechanical degree. Craig was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and was united in marriage to Kay Doty on October 22, 1965, later divorced. Craig farmed south of Brooklyn until moving to California. There he married Patricia Pena, April 3rd, 1992 and worked as a heavy equipment operator for 25 years. Upon retirement he moved to Arkansas and later returned to Brooklyn after divorcing Patricia. Known for his quick wit and fantastic sense of humor he enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, bowling and woodworking. Craig is preceded in death by his grandparents and parents. He is survived by his daughters: Jodi (Carl) Fye of Brooklyn, Kimberly Kochel of Des Moines, and Tammi (Neil) Grimm of Atkins; grand children: Haley, Autumn and Gabrielle Fye, and Bryton and Bennett Grimm; sister, Karen Higgins of Altoona; nieces Dawn Ellis of Laramie, WY and Randi Swink of Des Moines; and great nieces and nephews. Per Craig's wishes no services will be held.
