Obituary

Jonathan Hiram Walker, 41, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening on June 7th, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital. Jonathan Hiram Walker was born on June 4th, 1983, in Rawlings, Wyoming, to David Earl and Sheila (Rigby) Walker. After the death of Sheila in 1984, when Jon was an infant, David married Josie (Birtcher) Walker, and she became his mom in every sense of the word. They made their home in Johnson county, where Jon attended Clear Creek Amana High School in Tiffin, IA, and received his GED in 2011. Jon worked at many different places throughout his life, but his main passions was being an artist and cooking, in which he excelled at both. On April 12th, 2013, he was united in marriage with Amy (Bunnell) Walker, and they were blessed with their son, Jaxson Kelland. Although they entered the marriage with the best of intentions, it wasn't meant to be, and they later divorced. In October 2017, he married Laurabelle Walker and had a daughter, Hayden Rose. They later divorced. Jon enjoyed being outdoors and hanging out with his friends. He loved watching football, especially his two favorite teams, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was an amazing chef and could make delicious meals out of anything he found in the refrigerator. He was also an accomplished artist, drawing many things from portraits, to things in nature, to religious sketches. He had a love for different types of music and movies, quoting many of his favorite lines often. He is survived by his son Jaxson and ex-wife Amy Walker; daughter Hayden and ex-wife Laura Walker, his parents David Earl and Josie Birtcher Walker; his brothers, David Earl Walker, Jr., Kelland O'Brien, and Kyle (Melanie) Potter; his sisters Shauna Powell, and Natalie (Joel) Dejardin; his grandmother Wanda Lewis Dupree, and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Sheila, and his aunt Kimberly Rigby. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to help with funeral costs or for the continued support of his children. Jonathan Walker's funeral services will be at: First Global Methodist Church in Tiffin, 1150 Tallgrass Ave, Tiffin, IA 52340 on Saturday July 13th, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Tiffin Cemetery afterwards.
