John Robert Allen, 60 passed away Monday, October 14th, 2019, surrounded by loved ones at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. John was born May 23, 1959 to Chester and Jane Allen. He was a dedicated husband, father, a family comes first type of man. Enjoyed spending time with his sons, grandsons, family and friends. He liked building Star Wars lego models, woodworking, gardening, cooking and was one of the 1st to ride RAGBRAI. He used to say, he was a Jack of all trades but Master of None. Shari would tell him he was cutting himself short, "You are smarter than the average bear." He was the kindest and most caring man she had EVER known. John is survived by his wife of 23 years Shari Allen; son Jeromy (Tiffany) Allen, grandsons Jaxson and Carter; son Christopher Allen; stepson David (Zaddy) Rourke and grandson Aiden. Sisters: Susan Hutchinson (Robert Van Zee), Barb (Gary) Bagby, Joyce Daly (Ed Zimmerman), Janet Allen (John Hebel) and Joanne (Dan) Rasmussen; Brother Craig Allen and numerous nephews and nieces. John was preceded in death by his parents - Chet and Jane Allen and sister-in-law Becky Allen.
