Joanne H. Flanagan, 77, of Boone, died Tuesday, May 16, 2023, after a brief illness. Joanne's wishes were to be cremated. A graveside service will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, June 1st at 12:30 PM. Joanne was born October 31,1945, in Brule County, SD, the daughter of Theron and Johanna Birdmeyer Nash. On December 17,1996, she was united in marriage to George Flanagan in Independence, Iowa. Survivors include her husband, George of Boone, step-daughter, Brenda (Scott) McCloud of Ogden, IA, step-son, Brad (Jessica) Flanagan of Winterset, IA; grandchildren Austin McCloud of Ames, IA, Zachary (Hallie) McCloud of Ogden, IA, Avery McCloud of Ogden, IA, Hannah, Delilah and William Flanagan of Winterset; one great-grandson, Carter McCloud; nephews Delos H. "Hank" (Angie) Nash and James T. (Elizabeth) Nash; three nieces, Julie (Jon) Thomas, Kim (Joe) Leytem, and Lee (Larry) Raspotnik as well as several great nieces and nephews and one brother-in-law, Clem Plein. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Irene Plein and brother, Delos "Dee" Nash. A special thank you to Celebrate Life Iowa and the Iowa Veterans Cemetery staff and volunteers.
