In Loving Memory of Janet Elizabeth Schultz May 10, 1937 - May 24, 2025 Janet Elizabeth Schultz, 88, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. Born on May 10, 1937, in Waverly, Iowa, Janet was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. She was a kind and loving soul who saw the good in everyone she met. Janet's unwavering faith in Jesus and deep devotion to her family were the cornerstones of her life. A proud graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1955, Janet later pursued a career as a medical secretary. She was a long-time and faithful member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, where her love for God was evident in every aspect of her life. Janet found great joy in painting, reading, shopping, and most especially in spending cherished time with her family. She will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to know her. She is survived by her beloved husband, Garry Schultz; daughters Julie Grylls and Kim Pasut (Doug); sister and brother-in-law Peggy and Fred Adkins; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Janet is preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Crawford, father Rev. Alfred Rausch, mother and father-in-law Mabel and Harry Schultz, sister Barbara Widlund, sons David and Chris Emmons, son-in-law Rick Grylls, grandson Christian Gilley, great- grandson Everett Meyer, and great-great-granddaughter Georgia Spencer. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 5, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Franklin Field Apartments Community Room, 5250 Franklin Ave, Des Moines, Iowa 50310. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the family to purchase a memorial brick in Janet's honor at the Iowa State Fair -- a lasting tribute to a life so well lived. Janet's legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in all those who were blessed to be part of her journey.
