Obituary

Jamie Allen Towns was born on August 23rd, 1972, and passed away at his home in Ladora on September 28th, 2025. Jamie was the first-born child of Larry and Joan Towns. Jamie later became a big brother to Brent, David, Amy, Kelly, and Lana. Growing up, Jamie spent much of his time outdoors with his brothers, even though he was allergic to almost everything outside. As his little sisters grew, Jamie also included them in his hobbies and took them camping and fishing. Jamie graduated from Tri-County High School in 1990 and studied Construction Technology at Kirkwood Community College. Jamie also worked as a maintenance man at McDonald's during this time, where he was given the "Best Buns at McDonald's" award. Jamie married Michelle West and welcomed Skyla and Samantha as his daughters. Jamie and Michelle remained friends after their union ended and he loved his daughters and grandchildren very much. Jamie always kept popsicles in the freezer for his grandkids, whom he loved spending time with and teasing. Jamie had a nickname for each of his loved ones and a joke or prank for every occasion. Jamie was an accomplished welder. He spent 25 years welding for Kinze Manufacturing, and he made a lot of good friends during his time there. As all of Jamie's friends and family know, he loved Harleys and heavy metal. Jamie spent much of his free time riding, going to rallies, listening to music, reading, and working on his bikes. He was a proud member of ABATE of Iowa and AMA. Jamie is survived by his daughters, Skyla Fogle and Samantha (Will) Francis, and his grandchildren, James, Deanna Lynn, and Danni Leigh Francis. He also leaves behind his father, Larry Towns, his grandmother, Donna McCallister, and his sisters, Amy Johannes, Kelly (Les) Taylor, and Lana (John) Kinzebach, his godson, Noah Cary, Miriam and Lazarus Cary, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. Jamie was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Towns, and by his brothers, Brent and David Towns. A celebration of life ceremony will be held for Jamie at a later date. Per Jamie's wishes, he will be cremated, and his ashes will be scattered from the back of a Harley. In Jamie's own words, "I love my grandchildren, girls, and the rest of my family. Tell my friends goodbye."
