James "Jim" Ascione, 90, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines surrounded by his loving family. No services are planned but a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Jim was born on May 31, 1933, to Frank and Elizabeth (Bumpilori) Ascione in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Des Moines where he attended school at Tech High School. Following school, he began working for the US Postal Service. He married the love of his life Carol McNeeley on June 6, 1958. The couple resided in Des Moines where they raised their family together. Those left to cherish Jim's loving memory are his wife Carol Ascione of Des Moines, IA; children James Ascione of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Elizabeth Griffin of Des Moines, IA, Cindy Andriene of Adel, IA, and Vicki Hart of Des Moines, IA; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, many aunts and uncles. Celebrate Life Iowa in West Des Moines, Iowa has been entrusted with the cremation care of Jim. Jim will be missed at Prairie Meadows.
