Gary Bern Steward, 78, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2017 at home with his loving family beside him. Gary was born on December 3, 1938 in Des Moines to Mel and Jean Steward. He graduated from East High School. Gary was a retired bus driver and served in the National Guard for seven years. He loved to fish and hunt, was an avid reader, like to watch FOX News and enjoyed visiting with his neighbors. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mark. He is survived by his daughter, Terry; sons, Steve and Sam; sister, Jeanie; sister-in-law, Cindy; grandchildren, Ashley, Dillon and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Delilah, Aria, and Liam and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his faithful companion, Dolly. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
