Emmett (Pete) Junior Frauenkron, of North Liberty, IA, has slipped this mortal coil to return home to be with his heavenly father.

Born October 10, 1944, to Emmett Julius Frauenkron and Dorothy Gertrude (Steinfeld), Pete was the eldest of 4 siblings. He spent his formative years on his parents’ farm in Money Creek, Minnesota. Pete attended a one-room schoolhouse until the 9th grade. He graduated from Houston High, MN, in 1962. Pete’s work ethic was formed by farming and helping his father with contracting jobs in the community. Pete left the farm to find his fortune in 1964. He started work with The John Deere Corporation in Waterloo, Iowa, at that time and ultimately retired from Deere after 28 years.

In the autumn of 1967, Pete met and married the love of his life, Jeanne Carol (Miller) of Waterloo. Married October 22nd, 1967, they shared 54 beautiful years together until Jeanne’s passing in October of 2020. The two welcomed their son Emmett Julius Frauenkron III on April 19, 1969.

Following retirement, Pete spent the next two decades “farting around”. He would assist with construction work, transport RVs to dealerships, and was known as quite an antiquarian, often scouring auctions and estate sales to find rare objects for interested parties, fill in holes in his Griswald cast iron collection, or process “junk” for his annual garage sale. Pete enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley-Davidson around the country.

After Jeanne’s retirement, the pair moved to Harlingen, Texas, to enjoy the warm winters, returning to Iowa for extended summertime stays to bask in the glow of Grandchildren.

Upon Jeanne’s passing, Pete returned to Iowa and spent his time socializing and doting on his three Grandchildren.

Pete is survived by a sister, Irene Bertha Reid of Plymouth, MN; brother, David Julius Frauenkron of Stockton, MN; his son, Emmett III, and wife Sara Grace (Farlow) Frauenkron of Iowa City, Iowa, and by his three Grandchildren: Audrey Jo Athena (Cassandra) Hembry of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Zoe Jeanne Frauenkron, and Cory Emmett Frauenkron, both of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, LouisKruse of Houston, Minnesota, and by his wife, Jeanne.

Pete will be sorely missed. He wanted us to share GO PACKERS!
