Douglas Alan Lester, 68, of Marion, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly in his home on December 5, 2023. There will be no Memorial Services. Doug graduated from Jefferson High School in 1974. He went on to Airplane and Powerplant School were he became a helicopter mechanic, From there he traveled to many places including Hawaii, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Texas. Doug lived an adventurous life on the edge. He enjoyed his non-committal life so he could take off and see the world whenever he wanted. Doug was born November 26, 1955 in Cedar Rapids to Glen and Patricia Lester who preceded him in death. Survivors include 2 brothers Brad (Jacqueline) of Marion, IA, Mike (Anita) of Round Rock, TX, and 2 sisters Mary of Pahala, Hawaii and Sherry of Toddville, Iowa. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews including a grandnephew, Calix, who he had a special bond with trying to teach him the ways of the world. Doug's unique personality and kind and generous heart will be greatly missed.
