Diana Sue Woodard passed into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ in Norwalk, Iowa, on
Thursday, May 16, 2024. Diana was surrounded by her loving family in her final days, hours,
and moments. She is survived by her children James (Patricia) McCaffrey, Eric (Janel) Cram,
Melanie (Patrick) Webb, and Aaron (Andrea) Woodard, step-children James (Regina) Woodard,
Vanessa Lopez, and Maggie Robinson, thirteen grandchildren: Samantha, Chandler, Hayden,
Michael, Myles, Titus, Layla, Bo, Lucy, Quin, Christian, Jackie, and Stacy, siblings John (Diane)
Miller and Mary Lash, and her upcoming first great-grandchild Cole. Diana was preceded in
death by her parents Donald and Grace Miller, sister Patricia Miller, and husband Kent
Woodard.
Diana was born on July 14, 1947 in Ames, Iowa, where she grew up. Diana lived a life of loving
service to her family and her community. She was passionately devoted to her children and
grandchildren, and led her family as a true matriarch. Her love and service to her family was
seen in ways big and small - from the countless family meals she prepared and hosted to daily
conversations about a wide range of topics. She attended thousands of sporting events and
enthusiastically supported each of her children and grandchildren in their athletic pursuits. She
was a prayer warrior for her family members and church family, and her home was filled with
worship music and Scripture to the end. Her love and service to her broader community was
seen in her decades of service to Broadlawns Medical Center, where she was renowned for her
kind spirit and her work ethic in the medical records department. In retirement, she served at
Freedom for Youth Ministries and poured out her love on her beloved husband, her children,
and her grandchildren.
Most important to her was her love of Jesus and her service to her church family. A dedicated
member of Federated Church of Bondurant, Diana participated in small group and Sunday
school classes, was a long-time member of the church choir, would regularly serve in ways
seen and unseen in her church community, and traveled on over a dozen domestic missions
trips as a leader of the church's youth group. She was deeply loved by her family and friends
and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 23, with memorial service on
Friday, May 24, at 11:00 AM, both at Federated Church, 103 2nd St SW, Bondurant, IA 50035,
with a reception to follow. In memory of Diana and her life of love and service, gifts can be
directed to the Federated Church youth group.
