Dawn Van Pelt, age 65, of Boone, Iowa, passed peacefully at home on February 13, 2023, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Dawn was born on January 30, 1958, to parents Donald and Mary Ann Todd(McMahon, later Guadagnoli.) She attended Boone High School, graduating in 1976. Dawn married Jerry Van Pelt in 1983, though the couple later divorced. Dawn had many hobbies including playing games and putting together puzzles, Foosball was a favorite game of hers. She enjoyed gardening, drawing, coloring, sewing, and arts & crafts. She also loved spending time with her family, and especially enjoyed being a grandma. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mary Ann. Those left to cherish Dawn's memory include her daughters Jenna (John) Tieskoetter of Boone, IA and Kayla (Jon) Young of Knoxville, IA; grandchildren Jayden Tieskoetter, Jace Tieskoetter, Paige Young, and Peyton Young; sisters Cindi (Dave) Peterson of Boone, IA and Deborah Shreve of Boone, IA; her partner Kevin Welch of Boone, IA; as well as many other family members and friends. A funeral service for Dawn will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday February 25, 2023 at Cornerstone Alliance Church in Boone, IA. A Celebration of Life will follow at Wilson's Tap in Boone, IA, beginning at 5:00 P.M.
