David L. Gilmer

David Gilmer passed on June 6, 2026, at the age of 74 surrounded by his family.

He graduated from Adel High School in 1969 and received an associates degree from Des Moines Area Community College in 1970. He was then in the Army from 71 - 73.

He was an active member of the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren, serving in various areas.

He loved his family greatly, and enjoyed spending time and doing things with them. He lit up when seeing photos or hearing stories of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the occasional cartoon.

David is preceded in death by his parents, William and Grace (Crouse) Gilmer, sister Kathryn Reed, brothers Thomas Gilmer and Robert Gilmer. He is survived by daughters Dawn (John) Rush of Ottawa KS, Heather Gilmer of Garnett KS, son Edward (Amanda) Gilmer of Valley Center KS, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and a brother William (Marcia) Gilmer of Norwalk IA.

Services will be held at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren on June 27th at 10 am. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (themmrf.org) or Panther Creek Church of the Brethren.
