Danny "Shorty" Ray Schork, 68, of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away on October 4, 2025. Memorial services are pending.
Shorty was born on August 29, 1957, to Alan and Annie (Webster) Schork in Keokuk, Iowa. He was raised in Canton, Missouri, where he attended elementary, middle, and graduated from high school.
He enjoyed fishing up and down both sides of the Mississippi River, woodworking, fast cars, and gardening; he loved his roses and his hostas. Later, he traveled a little bit, working for the power company running power lines up and down the highways. He met the first love of his life, they married, and had three children, Catherine, Christopher, and Candace. Shorty worked all over the Quad Cities as a tree trimmer for various tree companies. Later they divorced, and eventually he moved back to Quincy, Illinois. He lived most of his life there, and he met the second love of his life and lived with her for many years before they split up. He loved riding his bike around the hills of Quincy, Illinois, and to and from work, where he worked at Quincy Rug Works and Savedmore Carpets in Quincy, Illinois. He finally retired from Savemore Carpet. Shorty moved in with his daughter and granddaughter's place, and they took amazing care of him in Iowa City.
Those left to cherish his loving are his children, Catherine (Todd) Guyton, of Colona, Illinois, Christopher Schork of Clinton, Iowa, and Candace (Shawn Aldeman) Duncan, of Iowa City, Iowa; seven grandkids; two step-grandsons, and two grandson-in-laws; mother Annie Schork, of Maquoketa, Iowa; brother Tony (Koreen) Schork of Maquoketa, Iowa; sisters Anita Price, of Maquoketa, Iowa, Naomi (Christian) Barton of Montgomery, Missouri, and Rhonda (Matt) Walker of Trenton, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alan Schork, grandson Carson Guyton, niece, and both sets of grandparents.
