Candy Deel, 65, went to meet Jesus on April 6, 2026. Candy was born on September 16, 1960, in Des Moines to Jim and Donna Hay. She was deeply loved and is survived by her husband Kenny, son Cordell, and daughter Celeste Hayworth and family. She also loved the children of the Vine, whom she nurtured with love and laughter as they grew in their relationship with Jesus. She graduated from Southeast Polk and Iowa State University with a teaching degree. She spent her early years working for various retailers and ended up spending the best years of her life with her husband, Kenny, serving the Mitchellville community as the director of The Vine, a youth ministry program. As part of her ministry, she organized, helped, and supported the Mitchellville community with meals for shut-ins, after-school programs, craft events, and more. She will be especially remembered for her joy in giving and for sharing the good news of Jesus. She will be missed by her devoted husband, Kenny; her children, Cordell Pace, Celeste (Joe) Hayworth; her cherished grandchildren, AJ and Landyn; her mother, Donna Hay; her three sisters, Sandra (Johnny) Hay-Magadaleno, Kathy (Bob Joachim) Hay, and Nancy (Jeff) Hanna; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her two aunts, MaryLou Hay and Louise Hay. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Hay, and numerous aunts and uncles. Family and friends can gather on Saturday, April 11, at the Mitchellville Community Center with a visitation starting at 3:00 pm, a Celebration of Life service at 4:30 pm, followed by a meal at 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for expenses. Come as you are in true celebration of Candy's style.
