Obituary

Anthony James Culp, 60, of Marion, Iowa died at 2:07 PM on Monday, March 20, 2023 at his home in Marion, Iowa. Anthony was born on May 10, 1962 in Burlington, Iowa. He was the son of Donald and Evelyn (Watson) Culp. Anthony had been married to Lori (Miller) Culp and they had one son, Tyler. He had been employed in the Quad Cities, West Branch and Cedar Rapids area but due to health issues caused by and in-house fire, had been on disability. Anthony graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1980 and then entered the Marine Corps. After being discharged he attended and graduated from Scott Community College. Anthony excelled in wrestling, karate, and boxing. From his training in karate, under Nick Tarpein, he placed 4th in a National Karate Tournament. We also won three Golden Glove titles. Anthony grew up in the Methodist Faith, his attendance became limited while living in the Quad Cities and Linn County area but he never gave up trying to be what he believed God wanted him to be. Survivors include one son, Tyler Wade (Tyesha), father Donald, one brother Kevin (Karen) Culp, and one aunt, Jean (Watson) Miner of Lancaster, South Carolina, as well as several nephews and cousins residing in Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Oregon. Anthony was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn (Watson) Culp, his uncle Wendall and aunt Maureen Culp, and his uncle Jim Miner. Cremation has been entrusted to Celebrate Life Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be considered at a later date.
